About the Wolves in the books

The wolves in the books are a little larger than the wolves in real life. The average gray wolf stands between 2.3 to 2.8 feet (at the shoulder). With the wolves in the story, the average shifter's wolf is 2.5 to 3.2 feet (at the shoulder) as to where high ranks (Alphas and Beta) are 3.2 to 3.11 feet (at the shoulder).

Just like real wolves in the world, the wolves in the books come in many different colors. Though solid colors and white wolves are considered rare. Due to the genes needed to make those colors.

The first shift takes place after/on the 13th birthday. Rarely do wolves shift after. Shifting for the first time is painful, but the pain subsides after a wolf shifts for about a year. Some wolves get used to the pain and can ignore it, but others have a harder time with shifting. A wolf can panic and stop midshift, giving them the half human, half wolf look.

Wolves will find their mate when they turn 18, though it is not uncommon for a wolf to find their mate later. Mainly due to the fact that their mate could be from a different pack. It is rare for a wolf to have a "second-chance" mate, as this is a golden gift to a wolf.

Wolves will follow the basic hierarchy of a normal wolf pack, though they will tend to fight for dominance over their other packmates. Though most do have omegas, few do not consider the rank to be important.
